Prior to this development, the Department of Health established two pilot projects that aimed to collect valuable information to inform the national roll-out. WebbThe IAPT programme was built on evidence produced in 2004 by the National Institute for Care and Health Excellence (NICE) [2]. NICE demonstrated that cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) was an effective first-line treatment for depression and anxiety and could offer impressive recovery rates.
